Organization and Governance


K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies conducts its activities under the overall direction of its Governing Council as per the guidelines of All India Council of Technical Education. Governing Council is the supreme decision making body of the Institute and takes decisions of strategic importance, including the long term direction, national and international collaborations and approving the plans and budgets including capital budget.


For academic guidance, the Institute has constituted a Local Management Committee as per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. This committee reviews the conduct of the programmes affiliated to the University of Mumbai.


The Institute has also constituted an Academic Council, as per the guidelines of AICTE and includes distinguished professionals from the industry, senior academicians and senior faculty of the Institute. The Council reviews academic programmes and advises on new programmes and other academic activities of the Institute.


For each programme, the Institute has constituted a Board of Studies, consisting of industry professionals and senior academicians from top B-schools.


The day-to-day operations of the Institute are supervised by Director of the Institute. Director General of the Institute guides the Institute in regard to its long term planning, faculty development and building up relationship with other academic bodies and the industry.


Programme Coordinators and Heads of Departments look after all administrative and academic matters relating to their programmes and areas and function under the overall guidance of the Director.


The Registrar supervises the administrative and liaison work related to University, AICTE and other regulatory authorities.
