  • Abstract

The importance of education as an engine of growth is a well-accepted fact with parents committing to huge investments for the betterment of their children’s future. These trends have been predominantly observed in the urban settings with children being subject to extensive coaching to realize their ambitious goals. While such initiatives have facilitated in successfully converting their efforts into premium college admissions, the flip side is that it has come about at the cost of academic stress having serious impact on the mental health of the adolescents. The current study attempts to study the factors contributing to academic stress and the effect of academic stress on depression among adolescents. “Scale for Academic Stress (SAS)” and the “11- ITEM Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale: KADS11” were used to understand the relationship between the factors of Academic Stress and Depression among adolescents.
