Activities

The centre organizes research conference SIFICO to encourage research by faculty and students. Over the years, SIFICO has inspired International participation from Germany, UK and African countries.

Several workshops were organized over the years to augment research capabilities. Inhouse workshops on SPSS, knowledge sharing sessions by faculty in the area of Econometrics were conducted. Prof. Bhadani of IIM Kashipur conducted a Three-day workshop on ‘R’. In January 2022, a Panel data workshop was conducted by Prof. CP Gupta.

Apart from that, to inculcate interest in capital markets, a field visit to BSE/ NSE is organised for students during several academic years.

The centre organised guest lecture sessions facilitated by people at the helm in capital markets. In the past, Mr.Shrinivas, Chief Economist BSE Stock Brokers forum shared his experience with faculty and students about the Global Financial Markets and Indian Economy. Round Table conference was conducted where several industry stalwarts shared their opinions in a panel discussion enlightening the students as well as faculty. In the academic year 2021-22, two knowledge dissemination sessions were organised in collaboration with our alumni. Mr. Hitesh Bhatia , Vice President -Private Banking at Credit Suisse spoke on the topic Asset allocation and Portfolio Rebalancing. A session on Fundamentals of Wealth creation was facilitated by Mr.Vivek Mishra.

We also encourage students to participate in research papers with guidance from faculty.

In collaboration with the PhD cell the centre conducted an Econometrics workshop by Prof. (Dr.)Subrata Sarkar for two days on Regression and Panel Data in the past.
