- NRI: Non Resident Indian as per the definition given in the section 6 of the Income Tax Act 1961. ‘NRI Candidate’ means a candidate who is a child/ward of the person who has the ‘NRI status’ as defined under section 6 of the Income Tax Act.
- PIO: Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) means a citizen of any country other than Bangladesh or Pakistan who had (a) at any time held Indian passport or (b) he or either of his parents or any of his grandparents was a citizen of India by virtue of the Constitution of India or the Citizenship Act, 1955 or (c) the person is a spouse of an Indian citizen or a person referred to in (a) or (b)
- CIWGC: Children Of Indian Persons Working In Gulf Countries
- FN: Foreign Nationals, foreign passport holder

2. In case of any candidate admitted between the period of 1st October 2020 and 13th October 2020, and applies for cancellation after 5th November 2020, in such cases, a deduction of 100% of the total fees will be applicable. |
- Parents, grandparents, parents’ direct brothers/sisters or student’s direct brothers/sisters holding NRI status can sponsor.
- The sponsor must be able to produce NRI certificate from the Indian Embassy indicating NRI status and should be holding an NRE/ NRO account in Indian bank or an account in foreign bank.
Location details of the college
K J Somaiya College of Engineering is about 5 km from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai India and is about 25 km from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (formerly VT station). It is in the heart of the Mumbai city and is very well connected by road as well as local trains to the entire country.

About the College
The College was established by Padmabhushan K J Somaiya in 1983. This is a constituent college of the Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai. This is the first private university in Mumbai, approved by both, the Government of Maharashtra and UGC.
College has been awarded 'A' Grade by The "NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION COUNCIL" (NAAC) in the year 2017.
By National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India (NIRF) college was ranked 182 in 2019 and was in the 150-200 band in 2018

Yes, the blood relative can sponsor education of a student
No. A foreign student (citizen) can study at K J Somaiya College of Engineering only with a 'Student Visa'. If the foreign citizen is of Indian origin, then he/she can apply and get a PIO (People of Indian Origin) Card or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India). Students with PIO or OCI can study in India without a student visa.
- How do I apply for a student visa?
You can apply for a Student Visa in your nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate. You will have to apply for a Student Visa based on the confirmed admission letter issued by the International Admissions Cell of K J Somaiya College of Engineering
No. THERE IS NO ENTRANCE TEST.
- The admissions are given on the basis of the 12th standard or equivalent examination’s marks. The marks of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics are considered for admission. Atleast 50 % marks in the above subjects taken together.
- The student can be from CBSE, ICSE or any other board which is considered as equivalent .
Yes. The course / tuition fee is to be paid in INR. However, the fee amount has to be paid from NRE or Foreign Account.

After completion of payment upload the scan copy of acknowledgement - The candidate will have to pay a fees of INR 70,000 (Provisional admission), ONLY WHEN A PROVISIONAL SEAT IS OFFERED while accepting the offered seat.
- Candidate needs to confirm the Provisional admission within four working days of declaration of result of H.S.C or equivalent examination, by paying balance fees. Else, the candidate loses the claim on the offered seat
- Cancellation rules are applicable as per existing SVU cancellation rules available on college website.

- Academic Fees: Fees for the first year has to be paid at the time of admission. The fees for second year will have to be paid according to the announced schedule.
- Rescheduling Terms: The institute reserves the right to reschedule the date of CA/PI. However, in such cases the applicants will be informed about the change well in advance so that they can make necessary changes accordingly.
- Hostel Fees: Hostel fees is to be paid through Somaiya myaccount portal only. (Selected candidates will have to first pay their admission fees to enable the hostel tab on the portal to pay the hostel fees).
- Mode of Payment: Fee is to be paid through Somaiya myaccount portal only. (Selected candidates will get their login credentials on their registered email id and mobile number).
Note - No fees will be accepted through demand draft or cheque. There will be no cash transactions. - Eligibility Criteria: Students pursuing or having completed a minimum of three-year graduate programme in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks from any University recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/AICTE are eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management. Students applying for their final exams in April-May 2023 can also apply. However, they should produce documentary evidence of having passed the graduation examination with minimum aggregate marks as specified above, on or before 31 August 2023, failing which the student will forfeit the admission. The student must have completed the graduation examination process before joining the institute.

About Somaiya Entrance Test - Engineering (SET – E)
Somaiya Entrance Test for Engineering (SET-E) is the entrance test for admission to First Year B.Tech engineering programs for the academic year 2021-22. It will be one of the entrance examinations for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in Somaiya Engineering College. This entrance test will not have any negative marking.
Mode of Examination
SET-E 2021 will be conducted as Remote Proctored online and will have objective type multiple choice questions (MCQs).

The medium of Question paper will be English
Eligibility
The candidates who have passed class 12th / equivalent qualifying examination in 2019, 2020 or appearing in 2021 can appear for SET-E 2021 examination.
List of Qualifying Examinations (QE) for SET-E
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
