Q. What are the admission criteria for two year full time PGDM Programme?

Ans. Basic criteria: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with  minimum 50% marks, of any  of  the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination in the year 2010 can also apply subject to furnishing  the proof of graduation on or by  31st July, 2010,  failing which the students will forfeit  their admission.

 

 

Q. What is the general cut off percentile to qualify for GD & Personal Interview?

Ans. This varies from year to year.

 

 

Q. Is the application form for PGDM & PGDM ( IB ) programmes  same ?

Ans. No. The students are required to buy & fill in separate forms for the PGDM & PGDM ( IB ) programmes.

 

Q. What is the selection process?

Ans. After being short listed for GD/PI, the call letters are sent. The GD/PI will be held in the month of February/March in Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai. Management reserves the right to cancel any of the venues for GD/PI. However if there is a change, the candidates will be informed accordingly. The selected candidates will be informed by post of their final selection and the results will be posted on the website.

Final selection is based on CAT / GMAT + Group Discussion + Personal Interview + Academic Performance + Work Experience + Written Communication Test.

 

 

Q. What are the  specializations offered for the  PGDM Programme?

Ans. Marketing, Finance, HRM and Operations & Supply Chain  Management.

 

Q. Is there any placement assistance provided?

Ans. Yes, placement assistance is provided to the students. A full fledged Placement Committee helps in the placement of the students and industry interface. SIMSR’s placement record has been excellent (100% placement) since its inception in top organizations with multiple offers to many students. More than 70 companies visited the campus for final placement for all PGDM programmes  for the Batch 2007-09.

 

 

 

Q. How to apply to SIMSR?

Ans. To apply to SIMSR for the two year full time PGDM  Programme, the student  is required to appear for  the  CAT exam to be held from the last week of November over a period of 7 days, and apply to SIMSR on a separate online application form which is available on the SIMSR website http://simsr.somaiya.edu

 

Q. What is the cost of the form for  SIMSR?

Ans. Rs.1550/- by  Demand Draft (DD) in favor of  K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research”  payable at Mumbai OR  Receipt of  Learning Centers ( IMS / Career Forum / Career Launcher / Professional Tutorials  ) OR  online payment by Credit Card.

 

Q. Can final year graduation students apply?

Ans. Yes, candidates appearing for the final year degree examination in the year 2010 can also apply subject to furnishing the proof of graduation by 31st July, 2010.

 

Q. Is there any hostel facility available?

Ans. Yes, the hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls. It is compulsory for all the PGDM students to stay in the hostel as it a fully residential programme.

 

Q. Do students need to clear any medical test?

Ans. After admission all the students have to appear for compulsory medical test.

 

Q. Is  laptop compulsory and will SIMSR provide laptops in the fees?

Ans. It is recommended for all the students to have their own personal laptop or desktop.

 

Q. Is there any Induction Programme for the students?

Ans. SIMSR has compulsory Induction Programme of two weeks at the starting of the course to familiarize  students with basic management subjects, especially  Data Models, Accounts and Economics.

 

Q. Is there any age limit to apply?

Ans. No. However, students below 30 years of age are preferred.

 

Q. Is there  a  Bank Loan assistance  provided?

Ans. Yes, SIMSR provides the necessary documents and other details required by the bank for obtaining the Educational Loan.

 

Q. Is  the programme  approved  by  AICTE?

Ans. Yes, the programme is approved by AICTE ( All India Council for Technical Education ).

 

Q. What is the total intake of the programme?

Ans. There is an intake of  120 seats for PGDM and  60 seats for PGDM-IB programme.
